the only one they were mad about was Joe Paterno, and he neither molested anyone or covered it up.

Paterno did what he was supposed to and reported the abuse. It's the school that dropped the ball so they bagged the guy to cover their own asses. Once again, the big guy with all the power can get away with shit. Fucking stupid.

^wait, JoePa was the one that reported it? I'm not sure that's what happened. From what I've gathered, he turned a blind eye, and because he hadn't reported it, the university's board of directors lost their trust in him and decided to fire him...
Also, the riots are only happening at Penn State cuz drunk students think that because people can have a sit-in on multiple metropoli (sp?), it's okay to go up in arms over anything

Paterno reported it 10 years ago when it happened. He reported it to his supervisor which is what i've been told to do in every job i've ever had and is the legal standard. From there, it was hushed up and the school administrators didnt follow through. Paterno is the complete scapegoat.

Yeah, technically I guess he did what was "legally" required of him. But if I'd known about it I'm pretty sure I would've said fuck Penn State and called the cops. And that's would should be done. To be silent about child rape makes you an awful person, imo.

My name is Adam Russell, and thanks to Obamacare I'll rejoin the ranks of insured Americans next year. Fuck the right wing.

A nice thing for a change....we're done in Iraq. It's kind of surreal. I remember five, six years ago how much of a bigger deal being in Iraq was than Afghanistan. I mean...it's Iraq! We went into Iraq once before, and we did it again. And once more, our military leaves. This time, I hope it's for good. And you know I was gonna bring it up...Iraq was my mission for a year. Not that I had ever intended on going back, but damn....the mission has ended entirely now. That's the surreal part for me. As I browsed CNN and read the full story about our final withdrawal out of Iraq, I stumbled across this and felt somewhat irritated. If feels like the woman who wrote this article is comparing the honor of having served in Afghanistan to that of Iraq and she's just SO glad her husband had the more "honorable and mentionable" job of having multiple deployments to Afghanistan. Because obviously you totally just want to be able to talk about your husband having to be sent to a combat zone and that's the only way you can be proud of him as a soldier. That's just how it came off to me and I kind want to smack her.

The statement "I'm glad my husband went to Afghanistan" no matter what you end the sentence with, is deplorable and disgusting. I hope this woman enjoyed the attention this article brought her. From someone who didn't want this: "My family doesn't have to suffer the comments and opinions of others for our part in a war that was never ours to choose -- at least not now, though I suppose that could still change." it sure does seem like she wanted attention, opinions, and comments. That's what happens when you write an opinion article. Ugh.

I just had a friend jump down my throat because I dared to browse Facebook and Tumblr today. Apparently, to her, I don't give a shit about my freedom of speech and that I don't understand the importance of what's going on with SOPA and PIPA.
Now, please, anyone feel free to step up and just call me a fucking dumbass, but I would have assumed my continued use of the internet would be a bigger slap in the face than banning myself from certain websites. I do understand the purpose of "blacking out" webpages and blogs and the like; I understand that the point is to let people see just how much we won't be able to view if these bills were to pass. But am I really the only fucking moron who thinks that censoring myself just might give the SOPA and PIPA supporters the impression that we really don't care if they censor us?
Ya know...nevermind. I don't know any better. I eat red meat and enjoy sports like every other brainless American. I don't know shit about shit.
