i'm not entirely sure they do, but...
keepsake kind of explains perfectly how i'm feeling about the whole adopted thing at the moment. it's not even that i want to know my birth family, just that i feel a disconnect with my adopted one. and too much blood and mullholland drive are also ones that i feel a kinship with. at the risk of sounding cliche or whatever, i like this album so much because most of the songs speak to me. i think if this album came out at a different time, i wouldn't feel the same about it.

I've got mixed feelings about this album. I mean, I think it's pretty damn amazing and it's the only thing I've been listening to since its release. But, I'm terribly biased because I've yet to dislike anything Gaslight has done. I can definitely hear their past albums on this one, and it's a step up from what American Slang was (Handwritten flows well, whereas I think AS has songs that can only stand on their own).
Also what ^ Ka said - I think it's one of my favorite Gaslight albums so far because it's relevant to me now and there are songs that really speak to me too.

So I've realised that this album (aside from maybe 45) is just an extension of American Slang. I don't have this on my ipod but AS is there. One of the songs came on, and I was like, "I guess Shelly must have put it on." When I checked, it was a song from AS (I can't remember which though).
I've listened to other things in the meantime since this came out. I should come back to it soon, and see how fond I am of a full spin of this album.

Handwritten>American Slang
Though its bonus track is one of my favorite songs, American Slang felt a bit rushed and Fallon even said he wasn't completely happy with it. Handwritten sounds done and Brian seems content, if that makes any sense. I love this album, but that's a given.

I still back what I said. American Slang is probably my least favorite Gaslight album and Handwritten continuously grows on me.
Also moving past Handwritten, how did everyone feel about Get Hurt? I will defend that album till my last breath.

"45" has been my ring tone for I don't even know how long.
I remember when "Get Vicious" dropped and people were sure what to think of it. It's still badass.
