So you're saying everyone who doesn't live a stone's throw away from the staples center is stupid when it comes to royalty?

Here's my prediction: Kings in 6. That being said, I'll be happy as long as it isn't a dominating sweep one way or the other.

I'm taking the Kings too. Such a tough road team. In other (sad) news... Hell of a career. You'll be missed, Cap

Well, at least your captain didn't go play with his bff and decided to not come back...

Mike, I need your take on this. the Crosby signing, well deserved, but do you also see it as some what of a slap in the face to Malkin? I mean, the dude was just named the MVP, and they give Crosby (great player, don't get me wrong) a huge deal. As John Buccigross said, I don't think the Pens can afford two 100 million dollar players...

Malkin = great player. He might not sign for as long though. Also, the Pens got rid of Staal for cap space. So, it is possible, for at least a few years.
Crosby = the reason there's still a team in Pittsburgh. If the Pens didn't win the draft lottery in '05 (which I believe was slightly set up by Bettman, but that's neither here nor there), they'd be the Kansas City Penguins, or the Las Vegas Gamblers or even the Hamilton Steelheads. No first pick would have meant no Crosby. Which would have led to no tickets being sold, which would have meant no Consol Energy Center.
That being said, I think it's still a gamble. But you have to show Sid the respect that he deserves, or else he could have walked. And that would have made every other team in the league much happier to get a chance at him.

Mike, is it just me and the area I'm in or do you see a bright future for the Columbus Blue Jackets? They're playing pretty well as of late. I felt they got a great return for Nash and Bob is playing out of his mind in net.

I haven't seen a lot of them this year, due to them still being a Western Conference team/ the shortened season where West isn't facing East. But I have seen a few highlights where Bobrovsky lit the opposing team up. Not sure how long he'll be around in C-bus, but if they make the playoffs, I think they upset a team or two. Long term though, if they build a solid defence around them, they could be good for a few years.
Also, if you're gonna start talking hockey to me, I have to stop and brag about Montreal. 2/3 through the season and they are looking like cup contenders. With not a lot of injuries this season, my bleu, blanc et rouge are looking awesome and if Therrien doesn't win coach of the year, I'd be very surprised. LOVE that the second go-around guys are playing so well for us (Ryder and Frankie Boo, we'll see how it goes with Halps). That being said, though, I'm a little worried about Carey... I will defend the kid any day of the week, and I think he's still one of the best in the league, but this season I don't feel as confident in him when I'm watching him in net.
Anyway, I'm going to Montreal April 9th to see the Habitants face the Caps, and unless Washington turns it around in the week or two until then, I am confident that I will be happy with the outcome of the game.
tl;dr to answer your question: yes, and go habs go!

I will respond with your response. Due to the Habs in the East, I haven't seen much of them. I do like seeing them do well. I have a thing for original six teams. Except for Chicago. Fuck them.
It also seems age has caught up to my Wings. Oh well, they weren't going to make the playoffs every year of my life.
I am excited for the realignment. Columbus got the shat in terms of division when it came to Detroit. The BJ's definitely got the tougher division, but we could see some cool rivalries spark from that.

^ Gaborik is such a good pick up for CBJ. It's sorta like compensation for giving up Nash, which kinda gives them closure on that whole saga. And it gives them that push for a playoff run. Go jackets!

The most fascinating thing about that whole deadline for the Jackets was the fact they pulled off all those deals and gave up none of their first-round draft picks. A team on the up and up+three first-round draft picks= exciting times in Columbus, Ohio.
