OOOH YEAAAAH. I saw that story about Bryce Harper on ESPN a few days ago. Granted, the kid is a fucking punk and will probably deserve a good fastball to the face at some point, but really? Intentionally pegging the guy? Do that in front of the wrong team and the benches will clear. Not to mention, I don't think anyone really wants to screw with the Nats this season. Yeesh.
I rarely get to see full Mets games out here, so I keep up with the highlight videos. When Wiggington took out Thole the other day, Philly had the decency to give Josh a round of applause when he sat up.
I can only imagine how the actual Mets/Phillies fan rivalry will heat up...

See though? What did Bryce Harper ever do but be good? He didn't ask all the media coverage from when he was younger...

I think the fact that he is so young is his problem. Have you read some of the stupid childish shit he does on a professional diamond? He does realize that taunting can cause him a base or even an ejection, right? The other problem is he is far too aware of how good he is. Pride in your talent is a good thing if you're also aware of your weaknesses. And I would bet you dollars to donuts Harper will tell you he had no weaknesses.
Athletes with that kind of arrogance bother me to no end. It's not a very flattering character trait and, sure, it gets you a lot of attention, but who REALLY wants to be known as the punk-ass kid who throws fits on the field after they've lived out their usefulness in the sport?
Plus he has a douchey haircut. Jussayin'.

He'd probably tell you that because he's probably been told that his entire life. And the dude's only like what, 10 games into his big league career? A lot of guys grow up from the minors to the majors. I'd also be willing to bet we don't see childish antics on a big league diamond from him.

I'd just hope the minors would have knocked it out of him earlier. Since that didn't happen, hopefully we'll see it sooner rather than later. I don't particularly follow the Nats very closely, so I'll just keep my eye on the MLB news ticker for that kid.
In slightly more depressing news...tomorrow the Mets plays their 8,000th game. Fifty years.....8000 games. Doing a bit of reading around, it looks like a lot of people are counting on Santana to open up a no-hitter against Miami. The closest they've had to a no-hitter so far this season has been with Dickey. I love Santana and all, but he hasn't felt like a consistent pitcher since coming off the DL. If he can pitch a hell of a performance tomorrow, I'll eat my words, but I'm not counting on that no-hitter. But man, wouldn't be be awesome.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath on that no-no. Especially against Miami. That lineup is so good. You'd have a better shot of no-hitting Philly

Yeah. Such a good line-up, the Mets swept them in the last series. Unless the weather gets to them, I'm hoping for good things out of the boys.

HA. HA. Funny.
PS, I'm eating my words about the Marlins. Seriously, we have the shittiest bullpen in, at least, the NL.

They play the Reds in a 2 game series before the Jays. I think I see the Mets going on a 5 game losing streak in the near future, don't you Mike?
It could happen even more so if Joey Votto's bat stays hot like it was yesterday. Holy balls, Votto.

^Cueto's pitching tonight, so you guys will probably get Mike Leake for one of those games, so unless Latos doesn't have it, I think NYM/Cin will be a split.
